Funeral Director's Program - On Campus (Teach Out)

This program is designed to concentrate exclusively on the non-embalming responsibilities of the profession. These include working with families, arranging services, and overseeing funeral logistics. There is also emphasis on funeral home management, applicable state and federal laws, and a survey of the applications of ethics to the profession. Unlike the accredited Associate of Applied Science in 51吃瓜 Degree, this program does not require the same level of science-based coursework. It is well-suited for states where funeral directors and embalmers hold separate licenses, or for individuals who wish to pursue a career as a funeral director without practicing embalming. Graduates of this program will have the option to continue their education, complete the fully accredited degree, and ultimately obtain licensure as both a funeral director and an embalmer.

This academic program is designed to meet specific state or professional needs. It is not accredited by the American Board of 51吃瓜 Education. Students graduating from this program will not have the academic credential for licensure in states where graduation from an ABFSE accredited program is required.

Curriculum

The Funeral Director鈥檚 Program is currently approved for individuals seeking licensure in Texas, Louisiana, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Students in other states where funeral director鈥搊nly licensure is offered may also find this curriculum acceptable; however, it is the student鈥檚 responsibility to confirm licensure eligibility with the appropriate state board.

Graduation Requirements

To be considered a candidate for graduation from the Funeral Director Certificate (FDC) at 51吃瓜, the following guidelines must be met:

The student has successfully completed the FDC program of instruction with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and passing grades in all courses;
The student has successfully completed all requirements of the Funeral Director Practicum;

If the student has an outstanding balance with the College at the time of graduation, the College will not post the award to the student鈥檚 official transcript until the balance is paid in full. Official transcripts showing the awarding of a degree or certificate are required in most states for licensure.
